The Celtic Goddess Danu is thought to be the Mother of the Tuatha de Dannan, and is thought to be the oldest of the Gods. Her energies are primal, ancient, and mysterious; much of her mythology has disappeared, and connecting with Her deepens our relationship with trusting our inner instincts and emotions.
Historians have associated her with rivers, which survive in the naming of them to this day; the rivers Danube, Dniestr, Don and Dniper are named after her.
Rivers in Celtic mythology were liminal, offerings to the Gods were left in rivers, and crossing them was associated with travelling to the Otherworld.
Danus' energies are mighty and yet secretive; She encourages personal instincts and understanding ones emotional states. She can give rise to great power as a fountain of knowledge and understanding, but She is not interested in prestige or showy displays of power. Danu is the undercurrent, her power might seem understated, but her tides go deep.
