★★ Loki, God of Mischief, Trickster, Paradox, Fire, Destruction and Rebirth, Shapeshifting, Carnal desire, Lust ★★

Nordic God Loki - Spell Oil has been created to honour the God Loki, who some believe is actually far older than the Nordic Pantheon but is best known in modern times for his association within in.

Loki is generally seen as a God of Mischief and plays the archetypal role of the Trickster; but from the spiritual encounters personally sensed and experienced I feel that a title of a God of Paradox is perhaps more fitting.

Loki was birthed from and embodies a magick of Fire; Loki was the son of the giant Farbauti (Cruel striker) and the giantess Laufey (Wooded isle), who was set alight when Farbauti struck her with lightning. From this flame, Loki was birthed and it typifies his nature; Fire can be of great assistance to mankind, and many times Loki does assist the Æsir and is a bonded blood brother of Odin.

But Fire can also destroy, and as such, Loki births the means to Ragnarok; he literally instigates the ending of the Gods and the world.

The colour aesthetic of the Pillar was recreated thrice before Loki stopped playing tricks with it, and embodies the colour palette of "Flame and Shadow," being a deep shadowy Copper. The Spell oil reflects this copper choice.

"Mockery within Truth, Slight of hand faster than the eye - if only the mind has wit to see it! When is the Fool not the Fool?!" - Loki in meditation.

Whilst attempting to create the energy of the Loki products; the paradoxical nature of Loki was at the fore, making the creation of this range akin to the lore of Loki, it was a very odd journey indeed.

Loki himself was known to shapeshift and even transcends gender in doing so; he birthed the many legged Sleipner after shapeshifting into a Mare and mating with the stallion Svadilfari to help defend Asgard in "The fortification of Asgard."

As a result, Loki seemed to enjoy playing with the expectation of what his Temple might appear as, prefering on most occasions to defy or subvert a persons expectations, and then on other occasions meeting the expectation, because the individual did not expect that.

Ultimately, his Temple revealed itself to me to be of Shadow and flame, presenting flashes of insight and illumination; there was a heavy lulling sense of Earthiness within that could almost lull one to sleep if not careful and then suddenly there would be a wild spice in the air; to jolt one into sudden awareness.

This spoke once again of the paradoxical nature of Loki, testing ones ability to resist being hindered, providing answers in riddles, and measuring the depth of ones wits to see if the individual resisted the temptation to dull ones senses.

Additionally, there was a primal, carnal, lustful, sexuality that accompanied every image and energetic pulse that Loki leant to the visualisation of his Temple, a "sexual temple whetted by Fire," which should come as no surprise, Lokis appetites were vast, varied, and at times in the mythology seemingly bizarre, or at the very least, pushing the boundaries of what was considered usual.

Loki is said to have seduced all the Goddesses of Æsir and had many lovers and trysts outside of his marriage to the Goddess Sigyn.

The Spell oil for the Nordic God Loki is certainly an energy that provides one small perception into the vast energetic matrix that belongs to the God Loki; one cannot hope to express him simply for he defies conformity to convention and refuses to be explained in rigid structures. He is the riddle without answer, a paradoxical shapeshifter, a mystery that prefers to change the rules rather than be solved.
